Metcalfe Mud Puddles

Check out the new blog. I'll leave this one up long enough to print my musings. C'ya on the flip side! :)

Its just 2...

Thanks for moving on over to my new site! I will be "multitasking" with this blog, but don't worry my boys will get first priority!

I'll start with today! Samuel woke up yesterday with the dreaded hacking and caked on snot. He played hard, smeared his germs on Tim and myself and managed to convince me this may not be such a bad cold. OH one can dream... Today he added a fever, pulling on ears, refusing to eat and just wanting MAMAMAMAMAMAMA (that's mommy in toddler language).
David is now 11 weeks old and is not content to lay and enjoy the ceiling fan. He wants undivided attention too. His coos and smiles are irresistible but his fussiness is LOUD. By the time afternoon arrived both my shoulders were coated in Samuel love and my lap was tired of balancing both boys. I knew David did not need to be inhaling the germs that were taking over! Well I just happen to have built in lifesavers up the hill, so a quick dial up to Tim's grandmother and David was whisked off for some deserved one-on-one rocking and snuggling. I donned a fresh over sized t-shirt and enjoyed snuggle time with Samuel before early bedtime arrived.

Though my day was not ideal- laundry still sits in baskets, dirty dishes in sink, and toys on floor- I am learning to enjoy even the sick days. Now wheres my chick flick and heating pad....

Sick Days

Time to vent.

I realize we only have 2 kids, but arriving on time ANYWHERE is quite a challenge! If we are all dressed to leave then we have an understocked diaper bag. If David is shiny and clean then he promptly spits up on the cute outfit I saved for an outing. If the boys (including daddy) make out alright, then I can't find anything in my overstuffed closet that hides the baby weight or doesn't desperately need an iron.
We are Church gypsies right now as well. We are taking our time finding a church home and so we at least ATTEMPT to arrive at a new destination on time. Last week we caught the last 15 minutes of Sunday School...wow, so embarrassing! Well TODAY was different. We got up breakfasted and dressed (EARLY) then started doing the same for the kids. Samuel came to breakfast with snot caked all over his face and a scratchy deep cough. Well so much for swimming to church this morning.....

Is this smile worth a college education?

I post pictures of my cute darlings on our blog, on facebook, and of course around our house. I've been told Samuel is quite the handsome fellow and yeah I'm partial to believe such rumors!! Somehow I've become an avid watcher of Live with Regis and Kelly and they have a beautiful baby contest every year. They partner with Gerber who writes a large check towards college education!! Who could pass up the opportunity?? So I started snapping extra pictures whenever I had the opportunity. Not that I need 20 of the same picture taking up memory on our computer, but its worth getting those green eyes a chance to win himself a college education. So now he is lost in a sea of fat cheeks, toothless grins and slobbery chins.

little boys

I love bath time. Giggles, bubbles flying in all directions, water flowing over the edge and all over mommy. Samuel will play in the bath till the water goes cold, I drain the tub, and finally put away the toys. Needless to say, we don't bathe every night. I'm not saying we don't need it, I just don't have the energy. 18 month old boys are into everything and wear food, dirt, and nose boogies quite proudly. As I was tucking in my sweet boy for bed tonight, I bent over to kiss his (almost clean) cheek and received a sampling of his days activities. We should not have skipped bath time tonight....
