A babe of many words

My affectionate David is nearing 17 months. I'm not tedious enough to record milestones of my small children and I see them conquering many things these days.  Just on a whim I started jotting down words that David could say. I was pleasantly surprised.... Here are a few words along with their translations!!!

pwease- please
tank u- thank you
cook- book
hot
twaktur- tractor
backhoe
doggy
kee-kee- kitty kitty
bite
dow- down
i cha- high chair
ball
momma
go out
bye-bye
cwakuh-  cracker
0rsey- horse
choo choo
piper- diaper
aight- light

Samuel was such a LATE talker, (at least 26 months old) that it amazes me to hear how much David absorbs and then spouts it right back out. Not that we lack from Samuel now. He is my quiet absorber who stuns me with phrases like "oh my goodness" and "of course mommy."

The mind is willin', but the body ain't

Since I posted not so appealing photos of David, I thought I'd pass on the embarrassment to older brother Samuel. He slept in VERY late for such an morning person that he is. I do believe it was 8:45 before he crawled out of bed. So I decided he would not require a nap because I had neither the will or want to fight with him to lay down (one of those choose your battle moments). So Samuel played hard this afternoon AND helped mommy pick up around the house. I was satisfied with my decision to skip nap as happy-go-lucky Samuel steamed on with apparent energy. Alas it was too much for the sweet child. I found him curled up in the living room in Daddy's recliner. He gave out around dinner time amidst the chaos of the washing machine, vacuum cleaner, little brother laughter,  TV noise, ect ...

The BARE essentials

This child has a SERIOUS problem. One that may require a team of psychiatrists some day. It may turn into a secret obsession, but I highly doubt it will fade easily without leaving a scar. MY sweet David LOVES his blanket and paci. He totes them everywhere. Even when I THINK I have stashed is safely for the day he can find it.  Tonight was no exception. While searching for a clean diaper before bed I was forced to release a unclothed child from the changing table. He toddled around the house happy as a lark while discreetly covering his babyhood with his massive blanket. I took to giggling and so did he. Here is the result!

Spring has come

We have been blessed with not one but TWO extremely boyish, as in dirty from head to toe with glee, outdoor toys. Tim took some scrap wood and made a dirt box just the right size for small dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, and taste testing. Poppi, also known as my Dad, created a masterpiece due to withstand many years of imagination. He built a large "sand box"  and filled it with all size rocks. He built it under our large shade tree and I foresee many years of joy ahead.

YES! That is dirt and snot adorning this precious child's face. I'm building his immune system..DUH!!

The coolest dad ever with the coolest dirt pile ever....

Already tasted it-YUCK. Now what do I do with this stuff???

 Say cheese for momma!

I don't believe my living room has been haphazardly covered in toys since this warm weather spell. My boys would much rather be outside exploring and I'm perfectly okay with avoiding house work. Bring on the pollen season. I'll sniffle my way through these beautiful God given days of spring!!

We can do YES we can!

I've tried and given up. I've postponed and worked vigorously in the same week. I've forgotten for weeks at a time and started over from the beginning. I've bartered and begged, whimpered and whined. Any clue as to my dreaded task?

Potty training

I think this is the one task in raising children that I would be perfectly okay with shipping my kids off for a week and have them come home all trained and ready for the next step in life! Instead I'm left with piles of soiled dinosaur training pants, a temperamental toddler, and a diminishing pile of M&M's that aren't doing the trick! Samuel is on the verge of getting the concept yet not caring either way. BUT THIS MOMMA CARES. I will not have more kids in diapers than absolutely necessary.
We've managed to go from 20 trips to the bathroom down to 10 in the morning hours. I've finally convinced Samuel he can take his pants off and put them on and that I don't care if they are on backwards...they are ON! Half the time its just a t-shirt anyways. THAT WORKS TOO! And so I plunge on (no pun intended), determination in hand, extra laundry approval, and patience in the works.

The GREATEST show on earth!

We took Samuel to his first circus experience! It was DEFINITELY sensory overload! He loved it. We loved it. And David stayed home to play with his cousin Mackenzie!

Samuel has started noticing the world of "dress up" or at least identifying what a fireman, cowboy, or construction worker should wear. Tonight he put on a show for us! :)

Isn't he a charmer?!?!
